There are three main airports in the state:

1. Gaggal Airport, Kangra

Gaggal Airport also known as Kangra Airport is located 14 kilometers south-west of Dharamshala in Kangra district. It offers flights to and from Delhi, Kullu and Chandigarh through airlines like Air India, SpiceJet and Jackson Airlines.

From outside Gaggal airport, Dharamshala can be easily reached by taxis and autos. Additionally, hotel pickup, as well as rental cars, can be arranged prior to flights arrival.

2. Bhuntar Airport, Kullu

Bhuntar Airport, located near Bhuntar town, serves as an important hub for travelers heading to the beautiful destinations of Kullu and Manali. Flights operated by Air India and SpiceJet Airlines connect Bhuntar to Delhi, Pathankot and Chandigarh.

The airport is situated on the banks of river Beas and is located at a distance of 10 km from Kullu and 50 km from Manali. The airport’s runway, however, is challenging as it is the only runway located between rising peaks that are much higher than the runway. The airport has seen floods several times due to its location on the banks of the Beas River.

3. Jubbarhatti Airport, Shimla

Jubbarhatti Airport, located near Shimla, plays an important role in facilitating air travel to the capital city. The airport, located 23 km from Shimla, connects to international airports in Chandigarh and Delhi. While the runway is relatively challenging due to its location between rising peaks, the airport serves as a training ground for budding pilots.

The runway length of Jubbarhatti Airport is approximately 4035 feet. There is a huge space here where small aircraft can be easily parked. The terminal can accommodate more than 50 passengers who disembark from arriving aircraft and 40 passengers who board aircraft for departure.
